ISRAEL AND THE NUCLEAR TEST BAN TREATY 

This book presents the story of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) negotiations in Geneva, 1994-1996, from the Israeli perspective. The author analyzes the evolution and rationale of the Israeli position during the two-and-a-half years of negotiations, until their successful conclusion. This was Israel’s first time taking part in multilateral negotiations on a sensitive nuclear issue. Israel sought a robust verification regime of such a treaty, mainly On Site Inspections (OSI), which remain key today to the CTBT’s credibility and deterrence capabilities.
